How do I edit a published assessment?
You can edit the content of an assessment that has already been published. You can edit the content of a question or the point value of a question. You cannot add new questions or remove questions from a published assessment.
Note: It is not recommended to modify an assessment while testing is in progress as it may cause loss of student data.
Go to Tests & Quizzes.
Select the Tests & Quizzes tool from the Tool Menu in your site.
Edit the published Assessment.
Click on the Actions dropdown next to the published assessment, and then click on Edit.
Confirm the Edit.
You will see a warning about editing the published assessment. To continue making edits and retract the exam, click on Edit.

Retracted Assessment.
If you leave the exam without completing edits and republishing it, you may notice a red exclamation mark next to an exam. This means that the exam has been retracted but has not yet been republished. Students will not be able to enter the exam until it has been republished.
Edit a question or point values.
1. Edit the order of the questions.
2. Edit the point values of the question.
3. Edit the content of the question.
After clicking Edit to adjust the content of the question, you will then be presented with the options available to edit the question, such as point value, question text, answer choices, and feedback.
Click Save to confirm the question edits.
If you edited the content of a question, such as the question text or answer choices, click on Save at the bottom of the page.
Confirm new point values and question orders.
If you adjusted the point values of questions or the order of the questions, be sure to click on appropriate option at the bottom of the page.
Republish the Assessment.
Once you have finished making your edits, choose to either Republish, or Regrade and Republish. These options will appear at the top right of the page, and the bottom right of the page.
If you only edited the content of the questions or the order, you can choose to Republish the assessment.
If you edited the point values for questions, use the Regrade and Republish to update students' scores based on the updated point values.
1. If any student has started the assessment or has previously submitted, you will receive a warning at the top of the page letting you know.
2. If there are any changes in content that could cause discrepancies in scores, you can check the box to allow students to update their latest submission.
3. When you are finished making changes, you can click the button to Republish/Regrade and Republish.
The assessment will be republished and students will be able to access it if within the active period.
